The first story in this series, “Baby King and Friends”, was written in 2021 when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. Social interactions were discouraged. Cooped up at home, many young children had no opportunity to go out, to play and make friends.
The author’s first grandson was born at that time, and she was inspired to write a story that brings the outdoors into the home, allowing young children to see creatures and beautiful parks, and learn some simple life values. The star of the story was a baby kingfisher, Baby King, who loves to make friends, and shows how it is good to have many friends.
The book was well-received, and that led to more stories as Baby King flies to more parks and makes more friends. The Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism supports this series of books.
